SCENE 9 (AYODHYA KAANDA – SRI RAMAYAN)

Message to Kousalya Devi –Mother’s blessing to Ram:

Kousalya Devi, mother of Ram, came and met Ram.

She has expressed her inner feeling and anguish.

Look Ram, in this youth you’re going to the Forest (Vanavasa) is not proper.

My feelings are hurt.

How do you live by eating fruits etc., in the forest?

You’re supposed to Rule the Ayodhya Kingdom.

Instead, you’re going to the forest/

This is absurd.

This will be a black mark on our Rajvams.

I’ll also come along with you Ram.

I’ll arrange all the things including food arrangements etc., Ram.

I’ll also cook wherever you move from one place to another.

Ram:

Look mother, you’re supposed to look-after my father King Dasarath.

That is your duty and your responsibility.

Leaving your husband and to come along with me to the forest is not proper mother.

I’ll follow your guidelines after returning from the forest vanavas.

I knew well that Bharath is good and gentle.

Bharath also can Rule the Kingdom.

I can say one thing, mother.

All the women who perform God’s Prayers cannot go to SwargaLok (For Moksha), unless they extend service to husbands.

Whenever you feel like performing, please do yagnas, homas, yagas and Pray all the God’s.

As per the order of father Dasarath, I’ll have to go to the forest vanavasa.

Please don’t get perturbed for my sake.

I’m safeguarded with my astra-shastras and I am confident enough and I believe too.

The astra-sastras knowledge imparted by BrahmarshiVishwamitra and Vasishta Maharshi can’t go in vain.

Whatever I have learnt, shall definitely be useful to me during my Forest Vanavasa.

Mother, you please be pleasant and cool.

You do not worry, mother.

You please be fully confident on this.

Kousalya:

After listening to Ram’s words, Kousalya Devi, Ram was blessed by her.

All the time Sri Mahavishnu, all the Devathas and all the PanchaBhootas will bless you, Ram.

Ram, good things happen to you.

You’ll become King of Ayodhya after you return from the Forest Vanavasa.

Surely you will be crowned as a King, Ram.

Ram:

He touched the foot of Kousalya Devi.

He took leave from his mother

(He left for Sita Devi’s Mandir)
